The Vision for Olive Elementary is for "Olive Us" to obtain the 8 Keys of Success: Integrity, "Failure Leads to Success", "Speak With Good Purpose", "This is It!", "Commitment", "Ownership", "Flexibility" and "Balance".


The purpose of Olive Elementary is to inspire students to live up to their potential by working hard, setting goals, and being community leaders who are successful in their college and career choices.


Support--creating grade level and vertical articulation partnerships.

Collaboration--building relationships among home, school and the community.

Communication--Having two-way dialogue that is respectful and consistent.

Spring Fundraising Results May, 2014

Thank you so much for turning in Box Tops this month. Our total earnings for the spring semester was $201.60 way to go!

Classroom winners are:

First place was Mrs. Puga's class with 462 box tops!!!  
Second place was Miss Minsart's class with 312!!!
Our PTA Popcorn and Snack fundraiser total was $1,500.00!! The winning classroom with the most $ raised was Mrs. Fritz's class!! WHOOSHES!!!

Pasta for Pennies Fundraiser Results

The Olive Student Council ran the annual "Pasta for Pennies" fundraising drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in March. Congratulations to Mr. Kurnik's class for winning the Olive Garden lunch by having the most donations for "Pasta for Pennies"! In second place was Mrs. Phillips'class and in third place was Mrs. Lowe's class.Ms. Roberts' class won best decorated collection box! It is on display in the school office. Great job and congratulations to all winning students! As a school, we collected $1041.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Way to go Falcons! --Mrs. Phillips

Congratulations to the Classroom Attendance Winners for March, 2014!!

Each month the classroom with the highest attendance rate for the previous month wins a chance at extra recess. Winning classrooms are honored at the Friday Flag ceremony each month and have the privilege of displaying a special green "Attendance Winner" banner on the classroom door.

Annual Parent Involvement Survey

An annual Title I program requirement  is for parents to evaluate the content and effectiveness of the district's parent involvement policy.  The policy applies to both Title I and Non-Title I schools.  This year the evaluation will be collected via an online survey process.

This year's online survey is now live, in both English and Spanish, on the VUSD Parent Website.  It will remain posted through mid-June.

Olive Elementary Wins Junior Carlsbad School Championship!

Junior Carlsbad School Championship

Returning by popular demand, students around the county were invited to take part in the School Championship. The school with the greatest participation will hold bragging rights for the next school year as County Champion. Awards will be presented to the top five schools and will include great prizes provided by race sponsors and supporters.

Parents--if you have recently moved, changed a phone number or would like an additional family member to pick up your child from school when you are not able to, please call or stop by the Olive office to update your child's emergency card. Thank you!


A New Magnet School is opening next door to Olive!

Vista Innovation & Design Academy is Coming!

Washington M.S. will re-open as the Vista Innovation and Design Academy (VIDA) in August, 2014. VIDA will serve students in grades 6- 8.
